The Windmill Family Restaurant’s tradition of serving Thanksgiving dinners lives on. The tradition was started in 1990 when Louis and Sofia Smirnioudis paired with the Friendly Kitchen in offering meals to the homeless. Nearly 30 years later, their son, Kosmas, and family members prepared for the event on Wednesday by cooking more than 70 turkeys. They weren’t done yet. More than 100 pounds of squash still need to be cut up by Thursday morning. The family is expecting more than 1,000 people during Thanksgiving Day for a free meal.
