I’ve lived in Concord since my family and I emigrated from the Philippines about 18 years ago, never realizing how “different” I was until I moved to a predominantly white state. Throughout elementary and middle school, I was treated as an outsider – and it made me disregard the Filipino culture that I was raised on.
As I grew up, I began to embrace the Filipino culture because it is who I am. Today, I am proud of who I am and where I came from – but have a president who doesn’t believe the same.
We need a president who believes in immigrants and knows that diversity doesn’t divide us – it makes us stronger. That’s why I am proud to be supporting Elizabeth Warren. As president, Elizabeth will create a country where everyone has an equal opportunity, regardless of if they were born in America or became a citizen later in life like me.
My community can’t afford another four years of Donald Trump, or the increased racism that has permeated from this administration. That’s why I’m all in with Elizabeth, the best candidate to defeat Donald Trump and to ensure everyone has an equal shot at the American Dream, regardless of the color of their skin or where they were born.
