Center Woods Elementary School’s third-grader Tanner Bell was the top speller and fifth-grade student Ben Morris from the Upper Elementary was runner-up. Tanner now advances to the state spelling bee to be held at the Silver Center for the Arts at Plymouth State University on March 7 at 1 p.m.

Nearly 200 of New Hampshire’s top spellers will compete in the 2020 Union Leader State Spelling Bee. The top speller from the state bee will represent the Granite State at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May in Washington, D.C.
