Several feet of guardrail on Interstate 93 was heavily damaged Tuesday and a portion of the highway closed for more than an hour after a tractor-trailer lost its load of timber, according to New Hampshire State Police.

The crash was reported at about 12:18 p.m. on the exit 12 on-ramp on I-93 north in Concord. On scene, troopers learned that a 2016 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Gabriel Robertson, 46, of Dublin was merging onto I-93 when the timber it was transporting in a 45-foot flatbed shifted, police said. As a result, a strap holding the timber broke, causing numerous beams to spill onto the road.

Police said their initial investigation determined that the load was not properly secured.

The stateโ€™s Department of Transportation assisted New Hampshire State Police at the scene of the crash.

Police ask anyone with information about the accident to contact Trooper Matthew Gagnon at Troop D at 223-4381.
