■Discover how the 1896 flood on the Contoocook River devastated the area along the B&M railroad in Penacook and Boscawen. On Monday at the Boscawen Public Library starting at 6:30 p.m., presenter, Elaine Clow, representing the Boscawen Historical Society, will explain why this event was called worst flood of the 1800’s in this part of N.H. This program is part of the Museum Sharing Experience and is jointly sponsored with the Boscawen Public Library.
■Polls are open on Tuesday at the Boscawen Town Hall (basement of Congregational Church) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for residents to vote in town elections. The town meeting begins at the Boscawen Elementary School at 7:30 p.m., following tabulation of the ballots. More information on the candidates and other items on the ballot are posted in the Town Municipal Office lobby.
■Registration of your dog is available at the polls; be sure to bring up-to-date rabies vaccination information and cash or check. Additionally, fire permits can be obtained at the polls.
■Gather up the kids and head to the Boscawen Public Library for Toy Saturday starting at 10 a.m. that reocccurs every Saturday. The library has just received a new collection of fun and educational toys that parents and kids can enjoy together.
■Bingo fun returns on Saturday beginning with lunch at noon and games start at 1 p.m. Bingo is held at the Boscawen Town Hall and cost for lunch and games is $10. Proceeds go to the Boscawen Old Home Day fund.
■Celebrate spring by kicking up your heels at the Contra Dance on March 21 from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Boscawen Town Hall. Tony Parkes will be calling squares and contras and will be accompanied by the High-Strung Strummers. All dances are taught and beginners, singles, couples and families are welcome to join the fun. Contra Dances are held on the third Saturday of each month.

■Canterbury Elementary School voting on the warrants takes place on Tuesday for Canterbury residents at town hall from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
■Board of Selectmen’s second session of town meeting will be held on Friday at Canterbury Elementary School at 7 p.m.
■Canterbury Community Farmers Market Association will have a table at town meeting on Friday, selling baked goods and encouraging members to renew for this upcoming 14th season.
■Canterbury Historical Society now has the Welcome to Canterbury booklet completed and available, to be given free to new residents from the town clerk’s office, and costing $5 to existing residents. It will be available at town meeting on Friday.
■Canterbury Fair’s first organizational meeting will be held this coming Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Chapel Room of the Parish House. Future meeting evenings are the second Wednesday of April, May, June and July. ■Salisbury Town Meeting Day is on Tuesday at 645 Old Turnpike Road, inside the Salisbury Town Hall. The polls to vote are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to vote for: moderator (one for two years); selectman (one for three years); tax collector (one for three years); town clerk (one for three years); supervisor of the checklist (one for six years); road agent (one for three years); trustee of the trust funds (one for three years); library trustee (two for three years); budget committee (three for three years); planning board (two for three years); zoning board of adjustment (two for three years); cemetery trustees (one for three years). ■These passes now available at the library thanks to the friends of the library: Mount Kearsarge Indian Museum: Mt. Kearsarge pass admits a group of up to four people or a family of adults and their children any day except special events. The Fells Historic Estate and Gardens: The Fells pass is for a single day and admits two adults and accompanying children under the age of 18 to The Fells Main House and grounds. It is not valid for programs or events which include a fee. NH State Parks: The pass grants admission for two adults and four children to any day-use park at no additional charge. Not valid at the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway, the Flume Gorge, Hampton Beach State Park – South Beach, Wallis Sands State Park, or metered parking. The pass may not be used for camping fees. Museum of Fine Arts Boston the Pass is good for 2 people and entitles each visitor to $10 MFA admission.
■Every Thursday is Cribbage Night at the Town Hall on Route 4. All are welcome and it is always a good time with neighbors.
■At the Salisbury Safety Building, the Fire/Rescue and Explorers meet on Tuesdays and Thursday nights. The Fire Auxiliary meets the first Tuesday of the month.
■The transfer station is open on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please remember to recycle all your glass, no matter the color. It saves not only the environment but it saves us all money. Paper, cardboard and metals are also recyclable.
