The pandemic has impacted all of us. We extend our thanks and grateful appreciation to our medical personnel and first responders and they have done a great job.
There is a group, however, that needs similar recognition – our teachers.
With the closing of schools, teachers had to adapt to teaching remotely. In a short time, they had to redesign their lessons and instructional practices. Unlike addressing students in a normal classroom setting, remote teaching is more difficult to administer. The school day starts early and ends late. There is a constant concern for those not engaging. There is concern to address the needs of all students, including students who need unique learning resources. Remote teaching is demanding. Public school teachers have demonstrated their nimbleness in adapting to a new teaching environment and should be commended.
