It is interesting that the op-ed last Wednesday writing about reproductive justice was opposite the article about “The Childhood Divide” and childhood well-being.

As a woman, “reproductive justice” for me means the respect for the gift of fertility. This means that when a child is conceived the woman and her unborn child need help to thrive. This includes access to health care, support in learning parenting skills, paid parental leave, the access to quality child care and a community that welcomes children and a women’s right to choose life.

I understand that sometimes a pregnancy doesn’t come at the “planned” time and a woman or couple are overwhelmed by the prospect of a baby. This is where the pregnancy centers come in, providing support that includes parenting classes for mums and dads, baby supplies and other help.

I suggest Mr. Soldati, who wants to care about women, visits one of the centers and meets women and children who have been served there.
