I read with interest your June 26 front-page article on the Gale School in Belmont. My father, Elden Dustin, was principal of the Gale School in the mid-1930s. He often spoke of what things were like back then and what his duties were. At his 100th birthday party, when asked to speak, he rose to his feet and, in his most professional voice, stated, “I have stood before the entire faculty and student body of an American public school and said ‘Alright now, who’s going to make the cocoa?’ ”
