■The Canterbury Farmers’ Market will be open Wednesday from 4-6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Elkins Public Library. The market will be held every Wednesday (unless there are thunderstorms) until Sept. 30. To address COVID-19 safety issues, the market will have a curbside pickup. Customers will be encouraged to use hand sanitizer before entering the market, numbers of customers coming in at any one time will be monitored to avoid crowding, prepared food must be taken off site to eat, customers are asked to send minimal family members and children must be kept with parents/guardians at all times. ■Canterbury United Community Church Pastor Sara Rossig has been ringing church bells every evening at 7 p.m. in recognition of essential workers, healthcare workers and those dealing with pain due to COVID-19. ■On Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Salisbury Town Hall (645 Old Turnpike Road), there will be an informational meeting to discuss policing options for the town. This is not a discussion about a police department, but rather other options, for example, partnering with a neighboring town, the sheriff’s department or more coverage by state police. Any opinions and questions are welcome and residents are encouraged to attend. This will be an outdoor meeting. Social distancing will be practiced. ■Election officials, the Town Administrator and Chief MacDuffie would like to assure all citizens of Salisbury they are working to be sure voters will vote in a safe election this fall. Voting will be on Sept. 8 at the Safety Building, 273 Old Turnpike Road, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please note that polling was changed to this location due to better social distancing capabilities. Voting information will continue to be posted on the town’s website and official Facebook page. Residents are encouraged to vote by absentee ballot. New voters are encouraged to register with the Town Clerk before the September election. You will be allowed to register on election day, but registering ahead of time and requesting an absentee ballot via email (tcclerksalisbury@gmail.com) is the safest and most efficient manner of registration. You can also email the Town Clerk or call 648-6322 to make an appointment to fill out the required absentee ballot documents.
■August vehicle renewal registration information will be mailed to those who need to renew. Please follow the directions in the letter enclosed and the town clerk will mail your new stickers and registration to you. This only covers vehicles previously registered in Salisbury, not new vehicles or vehicles of new residents. Online vehicle registration for renewals and dog licensing is now live. ■The Webster Free Public Library will reopen on Aug. 9 with some modifications. Hours will be Sundays from 12 to 4 p.m., Mondays from 1 to 8 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Porch pickups will also change on Aug. 9 to Sundays from 12 to 2 p.m., Mondays from 5 to 7 p.m. and Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. When the library reopens there will be a limit of two people/families in the library at one time. Anyone over the age of five will be asked to wear a mask. There will be disposable masks available for those who don’t bring their own. Please practice social distancing and keep in mind the library staff may need to limit your time inside if others are waiting.
■“Something Old, Something New” is the theme of Webster Old Home Day 2020. Old Home Day will be different, but doable with activities taking place Aug. 9 to 15 in your backyards and in your neighbor’s yard. The town is asking people to sign up for “yard art” and building yard art in your front yard that people can drive by and check out. This will be the new version of a parade! So far 10 families have signed up, but more would be great! Activity bags are being put together and will be delivered to those Webster residents who sign up. One bag per family. Message Webster Oldhomeday through Facebook and give your address. Please sign up by Wednesday for an activity bag. There will also be a story walk and scavenger hunt.
