The Trump campaign has scheduled a rally in Manchester on Aug. 28. Here we go again.
In a pandemic, this campaign is going to try to hold a mass event, drawing people from all over. Despite statements that “masks and social distancing will be encouraged,” based on past performances I have little faith that those requirements will be strictly enforced, if at all.
One more time people: Pandemics are not the time to be holding large gatherings of screaming, shouting, back-slapping people just so candidates can pump up their egos.
And where is our governor in all this? Mr. Sununu, are you your own man or not? I was under the assumption that your first responsibility in this pandemic was the health and safety of the citizens of New Hampshire. Will you call the Trump campaign and ask that they cancel, or will you be just another political lackey? By the way, I care not which ideological persuasion is thinking of holding large events such as this. Any campaign considering this type of rally is doing a potentially grave disservice to the people they are wooing.
I remind folks that former presidential candidate Herman Cain died of COVID-19 on July 30, less than two weeks after attending a Trump rally in Tulsa, where he was photographed without a mask, sitting in a dense crowd.
All New Hampshire citizens who are fed up with politics over health and common sense should call Sununu at 271-7676 and demand that he put a stop to this stupidity.
