Recreation Center offers child care

■Please note that the City Clerk’s Office will be closed on Labor Day, Sept. 7 (except for 3-5 p.m. to accept ballots), Sept. 8 (for the election), Sept. 14 (recognition of Labor Day holiday), Oct. 6 (city election day) and Nov. 3 (general election). If you are hand-delivering your ballot to City Hall, hand it directly to a clerk at the window. Do not put it in the mail slot.

■The Zoning Board will meet on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom. Link to join is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81018163256. Meeting ID is 810 1816 3256. Call in at 1-312-626-6799.

■The Recreation Center can offer child care only for children who do not have someone available at home. The Recreation Center needs to limit the number of children attending due to the pandemic. All members of the family must be working in order to qualify. Care is offered for children in grades K-7 before school and after school, as well as remote learning childcare. The application package is available for review on the city’s website or at the Planning and Zoning Office, 124 Memorial Street (open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.).

■The Twin Rivers Interfaith Food Pantry, located at 1 Central Street (across from Benson Auto), might be able to take excess produce from local gardens. If you would like to donate, please call the pantry at 934-2662 or email info.trifp@gmail.com to see if there is refrigerated space to accommodate your donation.

■Free Concerts in the Park has been extended one week. Due to rain cancellation, Bob Rutherford – a local favorite – will perform at Marceau Park on Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m. This will finish off the season of free concerts. Hope to see you there.

■The Food Pantry is looking for volunteers at various times throughout the week. Please contact Alec Cahn at 934-2662 or info.trifp@gmail.com if you are interested.

■The TRIP Senior Center can provide pick-up meals on Mondays. A bag will include three frozen meals to be used as needed. These can be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Call 934-4151 to order and arrange a pick-up time.

■The Franklin Animal Shelter will remain open by appointment only until further notice. Check the shelter’s website for upcoming activities to support.

■Three Rivers Coalition will be at the Farmers’ Market/Concerts in the Park every Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. You may pick up an application for an absentee ballot for the Sept. 8 state primary, Oct. 10 city election or Nov. 3 general election. Ballot request forms for Sept. and Nov. are also available for downloading at sos.nh.gov. You can also call the City Clerk’s office (934-3109) to get your forms. When your ballot is completed, send it in right away.

■The Franklin Farmers’ Market will be held at Marceau Park every Tuesday from 3-6 p.m. through Sept. 29. Free children’s activities and recipe samples will be available. SNAP, debit and credit cards are accepted. Interested vendors can fill out an application form available on the city Parks & Recreation website or call 934-2118 with questions.

■The Franklin Public Library is now open by appointment Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Patrons are offered 15 minutes of browsing at a time.  For now, there are no public computers. Curbside service is still available Monday through Friday. Call 934-2911 for details.

■If you would like to receive regular notices of city meetings in your email box, visit franklinnh.org,  select “Subscribe to E-news” and check the kind of information you would like to receive.

■The City Hall lobby and City Clerk’s window are now open to walk-in traffic. However, please utilize the online system or the main entrance drop box for paying city property taxes, water bills, renewing car registrations and dog licensing renewals. Call the City Clerk’s office (934-3109) for inquiries and updates. 

■Franklin VNA & Hospice offers a Foot Clinic every Wednesday in August. Call to schedule an appointment. Grief one-on-one sessions can be arranged by appointment as well by calling 934-3454.
