The 85-room Tru by Hilton hotel that replaced the old Days Inn in the south end of Concord has opened.

The hotel overlooking Interstate 93 at Exit 12 is part of Hilton’s mid-level brand designed to appeal to younger travelers. It was launched with a design around communal spaces and – a point mentioned by just about every reviewer – no desks in the rooms, although that has changed: The Concord hotel does have in-room desks.

The adjacent T-Bones restaurant is scheduled to open this fall.

The Tru hotel was built by Concord developer Steve Duprey.

In 2015, Duprey bought and tore down the Days Inn, which was built in 1965 and perhaps best known for the riddles that employees posted on its outdoor sign.

The opening comes at an awkward time as the hotel industry, like most industries associated with travel, is reeling from th e results of COVID-19, which has slashed the number of bookings.
