We hear a lot about the separation of church and state. What about the separation of the free press and state?
I watched both conventions, moving between MSNBC, CNN, ABC, Fox and CBS while surfing the internet and the lack of balance in coverage between the parties was stunning.
No fact-checking was employed by any of the networks during the Democratic convention. The news anchors gushed with bliss while speaker after speaker painted a fictional and “woe is me” picture of our country. In fairness some newspapers made a lazy and lame attempt to point out some of the fantasies but overall they dished out the Democratic talking points with whipped cream and a cherry on top.
When the Republicans held their convention, all networks except Fox fact-checked in real time and nonstop criticism ensued. The next day the New York Times and Washington Post ran exceedingly long fact-check pieces taking things out of context and creating a iniquitous narrative.
Are Americans okay with this? Are progressives proud of this kind of behavior? Reading some of the extremist columnists and letters to the editor in the Monitor, progressives have no shame.
It was announced this week that former ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, from the Kiev embassy, illegally authorized monitoring of 13 Americans’ social media accounts. This is a travesty but probably not a story that you will see on MSNBC or read in the Monitor.
Why? Because the incestuous press is nothing more than a lapdog of the acrimonious left.
