The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Hampshire is launching its second annual “Share the Bounty Day” as part of national Hunger Action Month. Shop or dine with our partners all day Saturday, Sept. 19, to raise funds for NOFA-NH’s 2021 Farm Share Program. The Farm Share Program provides limited-income individuals with low-cost Community Supported Agriculture shares, also known as farm shares, from local, certified organic farms. The program especially benefits children, families, and seniors. Donations raised by NOFA-NH’s Share the Bounty Day partners will help provide low-income New Hampshire residents with discounted farm shares in 2021, improving food security in the Granite State while supporting small family farms. NOFA-NH is proud to work with the following partners on Share the Bounty Day:
■Concord Food Co-op, Concord
■Kearsarge Food Hub & Sweet Beet Market, Bradford
■Monadnock Food Co-op, Keene
■Revival Kitchen & Bar, Concord
■Warner Public Market, Warner
■The Works Bakery Café, Concord, Durham, Keene, Portsmouth
In 2020, NOFA-NH’s Farm Share Program distributed 43 certified organic farm shares to 126 individuals across the state. Visit nofanh.org/farm-share-program for more information.

Canterbury Shaker Village on Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m. will host a concert on the green featuring the Suzuki Strings led by Canterbury’s own Sue Ann Erb. Erb studied with Dr. Suzuki and has been teaching his methods since 1972. Her group performs regularly throughout New Hampshire, mostly presenting concerts in schools and senior citizen homes, and occasionally for weddings and other celebrations. In March 2014 they were the featured young artists of the Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra Children’s concert in Meredith. The program will feature her music school students aged 4 to 17, playing a mix of popular and classical string music with a little fiddling too. Each student has a weekly private and group lesson. Parents practice with the students at home and are an integral part of their learning process. Students listen daily to CD’s of the music they learn to play. Early repertoire is learned by rote; note reading is introduced after fluency with the instrument is established. Tone, technique, and musicality are stressed from the earliest stages. Repetition and review of all the songs they learn is an integral part of the program. For the concert, bring a lawn chair, seating is socially distanced and masks required. Free event but suggested donation of $10. For more information, visit shakers.org.
