■Patrons and visitors are welcome to stop by the Boscawen Public Library which is now open for browsing and checking. Hours are 12-4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. No appointment is needed although the library has a limit of 10 people inside (including staff). Masks are required to be worn. Curbside pickup of items continues to be available. CANTERBURYConcert tonight

■Canterbury Shaker Village will hold a concert on the green Sunday, 4 to 5 p.m. featuring the Suzuki Strings led by Canterbury’s own Sue Ann Erb. The program will feature her music school students aged 4 to 17, playing a mix of popular and classical string music with a little fiddling too. Bring a lawn chair, seating is socially distanced and masks required. Free event but suggested donation of $10. Other events include an outdoor screening of “Casablanca,” the 1942 classic movie, on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. on the Meeting House Green. And on Sept. 26, there will be a Yard/Tag/Garage and Store Sale, 9 a.m.  to  4 p.m. The grounds are open and weekend outdoor guided tours are available at 11 am and at  2 p.m. Masks are expected and social distancing will be observed. ■The Canterbury Town Clerk-Tax Collector’s office is open to walk-in service on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. and Thursdays from 12 to 7 p.m. Residents are asked to continue utilizing the drop box outside the building, mail and online services as much as possible. Please wear a mask and maintain social distance while visiting the office.

■The Elkins Public Library has reopened. Library hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The library will be closed from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. for extra cleaning. Masks are required. Curbside pickup is still available. Family visits will be by appointment only. Call 783 4386. ■The Canterbury Farmers’ Market will be open Wednesday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Elkins Public Library. The market will be held every Wednesday (unless there are thunderstorms) until Sept. 30. Paul Warnick will perform live music. To address COVID-19 safety issues, the market will have a curbside pickup. Customers will be encouraged to use hand sanitizer before entering the market, numbers of customers coming in at any one time will be monitored to avoid crowding, prepared food must be taken off site to eat, customers are asked to send minimal family members and children must be kept with parents/guardians at all times. No pets are allowed this year and all volunteers will wear masks. Market tokens will still be sold and sanitized beforehand. See canterburyfarmersmarket.com for more details.

■The Canterbury Country Store can pre-bag and deliver orders of groceries thanks to local volunteers. There is a minimum order of $20. The store continues to stock local meat and dairy produce, all the basic household supplies, ice cream, candy, wine, beer and outside there are new plants from Canterbury Plantation. SALISBURYHaunted Barn

■Come to the Salisbury Woods Haunted Barn and Trail and get scared for a great cause. This spooktacular event is a fundraiser for the Salisbury PTG, MVMS, PTO and MUBU and will be open Oct. 10, 17, 24 and 30 from 7-10 p.m. It it located near the Salisbury four corners (intersection of Route 4 and Route 127), 19 Franklin Road. ■Cross Country Assessors are currently doing cyclical reviews on properties in town. They will be driving marked cars and have ID. Call the Town Office at 648-2473 if you have any questions.

■The Office of the Tax Collector remains closed to the public until further notice. If you need to see the tax collector, please email or call for an appointment.  Appointments are currently being made for Wednesday mornings. ■Five northern New Hampshire libraries are partnering with N.H. Humanities, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the N.H. State Library to present a three-part Zoom series this fall, which continues a year-long celebration of strong women. Visit wmcc.edu/fortier-library to learn more.

■The library is still closed until further notice, but the book return bin is taking returns and there are new curbside pickup and delivery options. Please stay tuned to the Salisbury Free Library website for further details and updates. New library hours for pick-up and delivery are Monday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays from 1-7 p.m.,Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

■The Town of Salisbury has openings for the following three elected positions: selectman, town moderator and planning board member. All appointments made to each of these positions will expire after the town meeting on March 9, 2021. Training for all of these positions are offered through the New Hampshire Municipal Association and paid for by the town. Selectmen meet on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 6 p.m. at the Academy Hall and are assigned as “ex-officio” members to other town boards and committees in order to manage the prudential affairs of the town and perform the duties by law prescribed. The town moderator presides over elections and the March town meeting. The Planning Board meets on the first and third Mondays of the month at 7 p.m. at Academy Hall. Letters of interest for any of the above positions or questions should be emailed to April Rollins, Town Administrator at salisburyadmin@tds.net.

■September vehicle renewal registration information will be mailed to those who need to renew. Please follow the directions in the letter enclosed and the town clerk will mail your new stickers and registration to you. This only covers vehicles previously registered in Salisbury, not new vehicles or vehicles of new residents. Online vehicle registration for renewals and dog licensing is now live. See the town’s website under the department of the town clerk for that information. If you cannot access these services online contact the Town Clerk’s office by phone (648-6322), fax (648-6658) or email (tclerksalisbury@gmail.com) for questions about vehicle registration renewals or dog licenses. For new vehicles, marriage licenses and vital records, please email the Town Clerk and request an appointment.

■The Webster Congregational Church is having a take-out only chicken barbecue on Oct. 3 at the Public Safety Building from 4:30-6 p.m. The Webster Fire Department has kindly offered its facilities and some assistance for this event. There are only 150 tickets at $12 each, so don’t delay calling either Karen King (746-2236) or Dave Richardson (731-0080). The menu includes half a chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, cranberry sauce, a roll and a famous Webster chef will be making his world renowned apple crisp! If you have missed the church suppers and are looking for a way to support the church, this is your chance to do that and enjoy a delicious meal.

■Congratulations to Betsy Janeway for receiving the Goodhue-Elkins Award from the New Hampshire Audubon Society. The Goodhue-Elkins Award is given annually by New Hampshire Audubon to recognize an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the study of New Hampshire birds. This award is named for Charles Goodhue, one of New Hampshire’s first great birders, and Kimball Elkins, who remains the model for critical observation and insightful record keeping. Janeway writes the nature column in the Grapevine.

■The Webster Congregational Church is meeting on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. with all safety guidelines in place.  A short service is also available on Facebook. The Oct. 4 service will be outdoors at 10 a.m. if the weather permits.

■Primary voting happened without any issues due to the excellent pre-planning by election officials, the many volunteers who helped out and the Webster community who turned out to vote. Five hundred sixty people voted either in person or by absentee ballot in the election.  Congratulations everyone for a job well done. Now on to Nov. 3.
