■The Andover Historical Society continues to receive donations of furniture, collectibles and household items and will hold sales on Saturday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 10, 11 a.m-3 p.m. The sales will be held inside the freight shed on the grounds of the Historical Society’s Potter Place railroad station. ■The Andover Community Hub is hoping to identify a half-dozen or so local folks who have interesting stories to tell of life in Andover for an hour-long “virtual” program along the lines of the Moth Radio Hour which has aired frequently on public radio for a number of years. ■On Monday, Oct. 5, 7 to 8 p.m. The Andover Community Hub will offer the first in a series of Zoom discussions intended to help residents cope with feelings of anxiety and stress they may have been feeling due to COVID-19. Molly Comrie of Counseling Associates in New London will discuss how anxiety may manifest itself, invite questions from participants and offer coping strategies for managing stress and maintaining an even keel. ■It’s the season for scarecrows and the hope is that all Andover businesses and organizations will decorate their storefronts for the month of October. ■The presidential election is six weeks away. Keep an eye on upcoming Town Crier submissions and the October “Grapevine” for more information. An absentee ballot application form will be in the “Grapevine.” Election officials highly recommend voting absentee! Absentee ballots are not yet available, but if you have already applied, the ballot will be mailed to you as soon as the town clerk receives them. As of now, the Nov. 3 general election will take place at Town Hall, same as the primary election in September. If you need to register to vote, register during the town clerk’s regular office hours. There will also be upcoming Supervisor of the Checklist sessions where you may register to vote as well. Go to webster-nh.gov and sos.nh.gov for more voting information.
■The Webster Congregational Church is having a take-out only chicken barbecue on Saturday, at the Public Safety Building from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The Webster Fire Department has kindly offered its facilities and some assistance for this event. Only 150 tickets at $12 each will be sold, so don’t delay calling either Karen King (746-2236) or Dave Richardson (731-0080) to reserve them. The menu includes half a chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, cranberry sauce, a roll and a famous Webster chef will be making his world-renowned apple crisp! ■Statewide Interlibrary loan service has resumed. The New Hampshire State Library is requiring a three day quarantine period before sending out materials, so it may take longer to receive ILL requests.
