Is Chris Sununu a moderate governor who actually hears and responds to the voices of New Hampshire citizens? He would like us to believe this, but it is not true.
This governor has proudly vetoed 79 pieces of legislation between 2019 and 2020, a record number which in 2020 included 18 bipartisan bills. This governor even admitted that he had not read all the bills that he rejected, but simply said that he would “err on the side of the veto.” In so doing, he effectively silenced the voices of legislators on both sides of the aisle as well as the voices of their constituents. He has clearly stated that he is “a Trump man through and through” and he has done what his president does routinely: He has trampled on our democracy.
What is the point of electing representatives and senators who listen to our concerns and craft legislation that responds to those concerns if the legislation produced is casually canceled by Chris Sununu? Our current governor is a political partisan determined to force upon all of us a political philosophy that does not respect the democratic process.
Please know that we have the option of supporting an experienced state legislator who has famously worked across the aisle to support sound legislation that reflects the voice of voters. Make your vote truly count. A vote for Dan Feltes is a vote for a governor who will listen to you because Dan knows how our democracy is meant to work.
