To all of the voters in Canterbury and Loudon, I would like to add my support with enthusiasm for Leslie Bergevin and Lois Friedrich, who are running for the two seats in the N.H. House, in Merrimack District 9. I am delighted that both Leslie and Lois support fair funding for public education, so that a student’s ZIP code doesn’t determine the quality of their educational experience. They are also both for a livable minimum wage and affordable health care for all of New Hampshire’s citizens. They have both spent many years working in public school systems and have belonged to teacher’s unions. That said, what I am most taken with is how sensible and hard-working they both are.
Lorrie Carey, a former representative and current school board member would bring experience and energy to the Legislature and would vote quite differently from the current District 26 representative. In the five towns that make up District 26, there are at least three or four clean energy projects over the 1 megawatt limit and Lorrie would have voted to raise that net metering limit. As a school board member she would also support local control on the issue of guns permitted in your children’s schools. Both Loudon and Canterbury, in their 2020 town meetings, voted overwhelmingly to support HB 1665, which creates an “independent advisory commission” to draw fair districts for the Legislature. Again, the current representative voted against both town meetings.
Finally, I would like to thank the voters in Loudon and Canterbury for their past support and for giving me the wonderful experience of serving you for two terms.
GEORGE SAUNDERSON
