EAST SIDECelebrate the season

■I would like to wish everyone who is celebrating this special season a very Merry Christmas! Stay safe and healthy, and make sure you wear a mask. I also want to wish a Happy Kawanzaa to our citizens who celebrate this special time.  

■I also want to wish all members of the Concord Police, Concord Fire, Concord General Services, Concord Recreation Department and Concord Cemetery Division a very Merry Christmas. Thank you for all you have done every day for the citizens of Concord. Remember all our beloved senior citizens who are residing in the various nursing homes or still live at home. Please call them or send a card to let them know they are not forgotten.    

■Immaculate Heart of Mary Church will have Masses Sunday at 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. There will be Christmas Eve Masses outside in the Rosary Garden at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday. The church will be open inside for those who wish to be inside and watch it on screen. There will be a Christmas Eve Midnight Mass inside the church. Christmas Day Mass will be at 9 a.m. Please contact Fr. Ray at 224-4393 for more information. 

■East Congregational Church, Grace Episcopal Church, Immanuel Community Church, Granite State Baptist Church and Concordia Lutheran Church are offering a variety of worship services this week. Check church websites and Facebook pages for details.

■Concord Grange 322 has sent Christmas cards to all members. The Grange also shopped for gifts for children at the Thompson Street Friends Shelter and other children in the community. The Grange will resume meetings in January via Zoom.

■Concord City Auditorium is closed. It will reopen again in February.

■There will be no trash and recycling collected on Friday due to the holiday. Monday through Thursday will be collected as usual and Friday will be moved to Saturday.

■The Concord Public Library is offering a children’s virtual Storytime. Join the librarians on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and enjoy music and stories through Zoom. Register online to attend and receive further instructions by going to concordnh.gov/588/Library or calling 225-8670 for more information.

■Concord quarterly taxes are due on or before Jan. 2. For more information, call City Hall at 225-8540.

■Lou Sillari is achieving yet another milestone in his life and this is the fifth time I get to wish him well! He will be celebrating his 105th birthday on Tuesday!  Family and friends will be calling or stopping by to share this momentous occasion with him and to wish him good tidings on his special day! So Lou, relax, put on your Notre Dame cap and relive some of the many memories of the past 105 years. Cheers!                      

■New Hampshire Art Association pastel artist Chris Reid will have her work on display in a free exhibit titled “The View Through My Eyes” at the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center, 29 S. Main St., beginning Tuesday at 9 a.m. through March 18. All work is available for sale by contacting the Art Association at 431-4230. ■All City of Concord offices are closed on Friday in observance of Christmas Day. Friday is a trash holiday. Trash and recycling collection will be postponed to Saturday.

■You can livestream the Christmas Masses at St. John the Evangelist Church of Christ the King Parish on Thursday at 4 p.m. and Friday at 9 a.m. on YouTube. on YouTube. Search “Christ the King 03301.” The Mass can also be viewed on ConcordTV, Channel 22, on Friday at 6 p.m.

■Now, go back to wondering what your “new toys” will be whether you’re 8 or 80. Love your family. Drink some cocoa. Breathe. If you’re going to church, feel it in a new way.
