■The Town of Pittsfield Emergency Management is proud to announce its acquisition of an information station AM transmitter from Beltronics of Nashua. Due to Pittsfield’s rural nature, cell phone coverage and other mechanisms of notification can make getting the word out a real challenge. The mobile AM transmitter product manufactured by theRADIOsource.com helps to answer the communication problem the town is facing. Pittsfield’s AM transmitter is operational on AM 1640 as we speak. This resource only works when people become aware of it, so signage has been constructed and this story has been shared by various folks active on social media. If you are in Pittsfield, tune your radio to AM 1640 and allow a few minutes to share its initial transmission. Also, set a button on your radio so you can easily find this resource during an emergency.
■Senior Center Community Lunch and Meals to Go offers curbside pickup on Mondays and Thursdays. If you have participated in the Senior Center’s community dining and you are over the age of 60, then this service is available for you. Please call the center if you are interested and someone will bring your meal to your car. Just call 435-8482 and ask about what meals are available.
■If you are a 501(c)(3), have you heard about the Globe Community Fund? Established by the former fourth-generation family owners of Globe Manufacturing Company in Pittsfield, the donor-advised fund is administered by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. The fund’s purpose is to enhance community wellbeing with a focus on the towns of Pittsfield, Barnstead, Epsom, Northwood, Gilmanton and Chichester. ■Pittsfield Historical Society 2021 calendars may be purchased at Town Hall or the Josiah Carpenter Library for $15 each. The theme of the calendar is “Before & After” – 28 pictures of old buildings in town and how they have changed. For more information, contact Fuzz Freese at 848-4488.
■For the month of December, Pittsfield Elementary School PTO will receive a $1 donation from each purchase of the $2.50 reusable community bag at the Hannaford store located at 174 First NH Turnpike in Northwood.
■The Pittsfield High School Alumni Association recently sent out its annual newsletter with its yearly request for donations to support the scholarships that are awarded each year to graduating seniors. ■You can pre-order your PMHS or PES yearbook for the 2020-21 year at yearbookforever.com. This year’s PMHS book will be $50 and the PES book will be $17. The use of the online system for ordering is encouraged for convenience. There are options to add name stamps to personalize your book through the online system. This year’s class has come up with some creative ways to cover this year, even with a lack of events. If you are a parent/guardian of a high school senior or a fifth grader, please keep an eye out for email that will give you an option to put in a message for your graduating student.
