A proposed dispensary for medical marijuana on Rt. 202 in Chichester will be the subject of discussion during the next meeting of the town board of selectmen.

The alternative treatment center, proposed for the former site of Price Auto Sales, would be operated by Prime Alternative Treatment Centers of New Hampshire, which operates a dispensary in the town of Merrimack.

New Hampshire has five therapeutic cannabis dispensaries and in 2019, the legislature approved two more, one of which is designed to serve Hillsborough and Merrimack counties. The Department of Health and Human Services say they conducted a patient needs assessment that identified โ€œthe Concord area as a location that would best alleviate the travel burden on (therapeutic cannabis program) patientsโ€ in this region.

The public information session will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 5, via Zoom as part of the Chichester selectmenโ€™s meeting.

Officials from the DHHS Therapeutic Cannabis Program and representatives from Prime ATC will make presentations and answer attendeesโ€™ questions.
