The Farm Stands hours will be Thursday and Friday 4 to 8 p.m., Saturdays 1 to 4 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hours may vary and will be posted in May/June.

The Barnstead Farmers is a non-profit whose mission is to promote locally grown and handmade produce and products to the area towns and communities. We believe knowing where your food comes from is just as important as knowing the people behind all the food and it is something that cannot be taken for granted. This mission will be carried into The Farm Stand as well.

It is seeking vendors for The Farm Stand. Wanted are veggies, meats, jams and jellies, and all local made products. Shelf space is limited. Please visit barnsteadfarmersmarket.club for application and info. For questions please call or email Lori Mahar at 269-2329 or info@barnsteadfarmersmarket.club.

HopkintonHistory talk

On Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. via Zoom, the Hopkinton Historical Society presents Leslie Rounds, author of I Have Struck Mrs. Cochran with a Stake, which isabout the murder trial of Abraham Prescott. In 1833, 18-year-old Abraham Prescott beat his employer’s young wife, Sally Cochran of Pembroke, to death while they were picking strawberries. Prescott claimed he had done it while sleepwalking. After two trials, both resulting in convictions, 10,000 people turned out in Hopkinton for Prescott’s execution, then rioted when it was postponed. Later that winter, nearly as many spectators gathered to witness his execution. Prescott’s crime has landmark significance, as many believed he was mentally ill and should never have been executed.
