The Buntin-Rumford-Webster Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) donated books to Pittsfield Elementary School library in honor of Black History month and Women’s History month. In doing so, the chapter supported the DAR missions of literacy and education.
The books that were donated were titles in the Little People, Big Dreams series: Rosa Parks, Ella Fitzgerald, Maya Angelou; The ABC’s of Black History; and Little Legends Exceptional Men in Black History. Amelia Aznive, DAR chapter librarian, presented the books to Kathy Mathanes. Kathy Mathanes was a former winner of the “Voice of Democracy” essay contest in high school.
