The full force of Concord’s Fire Department was deployed twice on Monday – first at 7:54 a.m. and then again at 3:42 p.m.

The first call to 26 Commercial Street came in through a fire alarm activation due to heavy smoke on the second and third floors of the Horseshoe Pond Place Apartments

It turned out a motor on a concealed HVAC unit had caught fire and burned wiring and insulation around the unit. All residents were eventually able to reoccupy their units.

Later in the afternoon, all crews were dispatched to a report of a car fire near the Shell gas station and car wash at 24 Loudon Road.

“Due to the reported proximity of the vehicle to an adjacent building, a full building fire response was dispatched.,” city officials said. “Engine 7, from the Heights Fire Station, arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the fire and prevented extension to the building.”

No one was injured in either incident, however, the two fires “required the responses from all on duty Fire Department units,” city officials said.
