■Help clean up the gardens around Daniel Webster’s house at the historical society on Sunday from 12:30-4 p.m. at 21 Holy Cross Road. Some tools are provided, but bring pruners, trowels, gardening gloves and a bucket, if you have them. All ages are welcome. You might get a peek at some of the plants that will be sold on June 6.
■Franklin City Council will meet on Monday at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Franklin City Hall. Provisions for persons with special needs can be made by contacting the City Manager’s Office, 934-3109, or by mail at least five days prior to the public hearing. You can also view the meeting remotely and see the latest agenda at franklinnh.org/city-council-mayor. The agenda is posted on Thursdays prior to the Monday meetings.
■Community MTB Rides meets on Monday at 6 p.m. Meet at Franklin Falls Dam. This ride is free. No bike and helmet? Come early to Outdoor New England, downtown Franklin, to get what you need, free of charge, to see if mountain biking is for you.
■Clean-up at Mill City Park is Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. Spend two hours enjoying fresh air and time with your neighbors collecting trash and cutting brush for the new campground. Bring gloves, warm clothes, hand clippers, trash bags and a smile!
■Give the gift of life at upcoming Red Cross Blood Drives: Tuesday and May 15 at Tanger Outlets, Friday at United Church of Warner and May 11 at Leavitt Park House in Laconia. Visit redcrossblood.org for details and to schedule an appointment.
■The Franklin Business and Professional Women’s Club is sponsoring two scholarships: The Velma Smith Dalphond and the Jackie O’Rourke scholarships, available to women 22 years or older who live in the greater Franklin BPW membership area and who are working toward advancing skills and career with additional education. Scholarship awards have been $500 each in recent years. The application is available at bpwfranklin.org. Under “Programs” scroll down to “Scholarship Information.” The deadline for applications is May 15. The winner will be notified in June and invited to the June dinner meeting.
■Franklin High School Players will be presenting “Sweeney Todd” on May 20-23. Limited, spaced seating is provided for these performances. Tickets are on sale now at franklinoperahouse.org.
■Registration for the Franklin Animal Shelter 5K is open. You can come in-person on May 30 at 9 a.m. or participate virtually on May 29-30. Visit franklinanimalshelter.org for details.

■Franklin Parks & Recreation Summer Camp will run June 21 through Sept. 3 for kids who have completed grades K-8. Offerings include mountain biking, paddle board lessons, swimming lessons and kayaking at Webster Lake; plus tennis, soccer, Franklin Area Children’s Theatre and more!
