Donny Cote needed just 75 pitches to work all seven innings on Saturday as the Concord High baseball team blanked Trinity, 9-0.

Cote allowed six hits, walked none and struck out three in his efficient outing. The Crimson Tide improved to 7-3 with the win and have now won three straight after losing three straight to end the month of April. Trinity drops to 2-3.

Concord scored one in the first and broke things open in the second inning on a three-run double from Nate Wachter, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs a day after he collected two hits in Concord’s 4-1 win at Exeter. Tyler Wright (hit, run, RBI), who was the winning pitcher on Friday, had a double in the second inning and then scored on an inside-the-park home run from Jarrad Willette (2-for-4, two RBI, two runs).

Ryan Philbrick (hit, two runs), Charlie Levine (hit) and Jack Reynolds (hit) also contributed to the Tide’s offense.

“We played excellent defense led by Charlie Levine and Dylan Miles up the middle,” Concord coach Scott Owen said. “We got some big hits and played a really good game overall.”

Concord has three games this week starting with an away contest at Manchester Memorial on Monday.
