Laconia Summer concerts

On May 21 at 6 p.m., the Acoustic Trio of James Montgomery, Bob McCarthy and Billy Martin will be the season opener for the Belknap Mill’s 2021 Arts in the Park Summer Concert Series. Celebrating bringing live music to the Lakes Region community for over 10 years, the Arts in the Park summer concert series will feature nine concerts taking place every other Friday evening through Sept. 10 with our season finale, The Rockin’ Daddios Sock Hop. All concerts are free and open to the public to enjoy. Bring a chair or blanket and make yourself comfortable for an evening of live music. Bob McCarthy, with his guitars and mandolin and James Montgomery on harmonica are joined by Billy Martin on his double bass, each one a diverse and gifted musician. Together they will deliver a treasure trove of musical selections. Their combined experience includes music from every genre ranging from modern chamber, folk, gospel, jazz, Celtic, bluegrass, Brazilian and of course, Rhythm & Blues. Concord Stock market game

Bishop Brady High School Students won the SIFMA Stockmarket Game contest with the highest return out of 240 state teams. The team of Darren Earley and Sal Aubin placed first and teamAbby Shagena, Max Brown, and Kathryn Merola ended in 3rd. SIFMA simulated stock market game that gives each team digital money value of $100,000 and they have three months to invest it based on the real-time and events of the NY stock market in long stocks, mutual funds, and bonds competing against 242 other New Hampshire teams. The goal is to make the highest percent profit with the funds given in this time period. Aubin andEarley’s team “The Amigos” placed 1st out of the 241 teams with a 21.85% profit gained. In 3rd place, team “No Name” consisting of Shagena, Brown, and Merolawith a 18.41% profit gained. These winning teams will be recognized with medals, certificates, a school banner, and other prizes, including a pizza party and recognition on the SIFMA game national website, stockmarketgame.org.
