■Town offices and the public library will be closed on Monday in observance of Independence Day.
■A full schedule of events and activities is available for all ages at the Boscawen Public Library. Sign up for the Summer Reading Program “Tails and Tales” online at boscawenpubliclibrary.org or in-person at the library. Follow a Story Walk starting at the gazebo in front of the Town Municipal Offices. Bring in your pet pictures to be posted on the Pet Board. Preschool children are invited to come to Storytime on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m., followed by a craft. School-age children can read with the librarian on Thursdays from 2-3 p.m. The Craft Group gathers on Mondays at 2 p.m. Adult Yoga resumes on Wednesday from 9-10 .. Bone Builders returns on July 12 from 9-10 am. “Finding Dorothy” by Elizabeth Letts will be the topic at the Book Discussion Group meeting on July 13 beginning at 2:30 p.m. Books are available at the library.
■Enjoy a lazy summer afternoon in the Congregational Church Park and listen to the Honey Bee Trio on Saturday from 4-7 p.m. Bring your chairs, umbrellas (just in case) and appetites. There is lots of good food for purchase. Coffee houses will be held on the second Saturday of each month through September at this outdoor location.
■Elaine Clow of the Boscawen Historical Society, will speak on the history of the Millyards in Boscawen, Penacook and Fisherville on July 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the library. No sign up is needed.
■Boscawen Old Home Day is back on Aug. 28, complete with a parade, shows and games at Welch Park, and fireworks at dusk. Pack your lunch as there will not be refreshments or a chicken BBQ this year. The Annual Golf Classic will be held at Den Brae Golf Course on Aug. 26. More information about Old Home Week events will be posted in future columns.
■An emergency cooling shelter is offered by the town to assist residents in need from heat related conditions and are seeking a place to stay cool. Pets can’t be accommodated. Please call Emergency Management at 892-5168 or the Boscawen Town Health Officer at 333-5380 for more information.

■Elkins Library will be closed through Monday. Happy Fourth of July! Regular open hours are still Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Face masks are still required.
■This summer the library is celebrating the nationwide theme of “Tails and Tales.” Crafts and activities will be available for pick up in the Children’s Room or on the curbside pick-up table. Come every week for a take-away prize. This week the library is offering poster-sized coloring sheets! Come on in to the library to pick out books and visit with Mrs. Baker and the staff! The air conditioning is really good! Call to reserve and pick up passes for Petals in The Pines and visit the newest Tale Trail.
■Participate in “On The Wild Side” on Wednesday at the library. Participants will laugh through animal-themed MadLibs and share animal stories on YouTube Live at 11 a.m. Learn how to make origami animal bookmarks to hold your place in one of the hundreds of animal stories you can find at your library!
■Elkins Public Library is pleased to announce the use of Meeting OWL Pro, which will provide youngsters through adults with the ability to participate in library programs no matter where you are! Future library programs that are in-person will also be available virtually. This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Look for this innovative way to participate in programs coming in September 2021.
■The Canterbury Community Farmers Market is being held in its usual spot at 9 Center Road on Wednesdays from 4-6:30 p.m. Shoppers looking to use credit/debit cards can purchase $5 tokens to use to purchase produce from their favorite vendors. Visit with volunteers at the Information Tent to learn more! There is also live music. Check out canterburyfarmersmarket.com for a list of who is playing. Enjoy some dinner at the picnic tables located in the back of the market. Feel free to bring a chair and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the market during the lovely summer evenings. ■The Old Home Day Committee is asking residents of Salisbury to please vote for this year’s Citizen of the Year. The Old Home Day Committee is looking for nominations for an individual who has been active in town issues, who has gone above and beyond for the town of Salisbury, and served the people of Salisbury in different capacities. Please drop off your nomination in one of the boxes located at Crossroads Country Store, Academy Hall and the Salisbury Free Library. Nominations will be reviewed at the July 13 meeting. Come to Old Home Day on Aug. 7 to see who will be honored as the 2021 Salisbury Citizen of the Year. One vote per person. You must include your name, street address and who you are nominating on your note. You may vote by emailing salsiburynhohd@gmail.com no later than July 13 at 3 p.m.

■Salisbury Old Home Days will take place on Aug 6-8. This year’s theme is “Salisbury Through the Decades.” Pick a decade and make a float for the parade! There will be cash prizes for first-, second- and third-place winners. Email tamjham71@gmail.com or pick up an entry form at the post office bulletin board, library or Crossroads Country Store. Entries are due no later than July 27. Kids can also participate in the parade with bikes and pets. The parade will be on Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. Other Old Home Day events include: car show/cruise night at Maplewood Ballfield (Aug. 6 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.), firefighter must and antique fire truck and tractor show (Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Maplewood Ballfield), horseshoe tournament, chicken barbecue, crafts, chili cook-off, ice cream social, corn hole tournament and more. ■The town clerk is now open fully on Mondays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesdays from 3:30-8:30 p.m. Masks are recommended for all those who are not fully vaccinated. Please continue to observe social distancing. Please be sure to bring your driver’s license and all necessary documents with you. New vehicle registration and transfers need to be done in the office in person. Renewals may still be done online or through the mail. Payments may be made by cash, check (to the Town of Salisbury) or credit/debit card. Vehicle renewal registration information was mailed to those who need to renew in July. Please follow the directions in the letter enclosed and the town clerk will mail your new stickers and registration to you. Online registration for dog licensing is now live. The town clerk will not be available on July 5 in observance of Independence Day.
■The library is open to the public. Hours are Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday from 1-7 p.m., Thursday from 1-7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call or email the library (salisburyfree@gmail.com) to arrange no-contact pickup and delivery. Pickup and delivery services might not be available at all times due to staffing. Storytime is done live on Facebook on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. The library also participates in 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. Any child age 5 and under who has not yet started kindergarten can participate. All books read with, or to, the participating child counts. Printing, scanning and faxing services are still available at the library by appointment. Call the library to make arrangements. The library also has passes for New Hampshire State Parks.
