The Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2021 Arts Education Scholarships which were given out July 2 at their First Friday event Music on the Green.
Matt Gallagher, a Newport High School senior was awarded the Gusta Morgan Teach Scholarship, for Leadership in the Arts. Matt will be attending Dartmouth College in the fall.
Bailey Carmody, a Kearsarge Regional High School senior from Warner, was awarded the Madge Rizza Scholarship for Performing Arts. Bailey will be attending Plymouth State University in the fall.
Anya Moorehouse, from Sunapee, a junior at Mount Royal Academy, and Sydney Laurendeau from Bradford, a junior at Kearsarge Regional High School both received scholarships to attend the Dance Education Program provided by the Dance Teachers’ Club of Boston and the American Society of the Teachers of Dancing, located in Nashua.
Katie Renner, from Newport, an eighth grader at Newport Middle School, and Annalise Renner, also from Newport and a junior at Newport High School both received scholarships to attend RB Productions Summer Theater Program at the Concord Center for the Arts in Concord.
The Center for the Arts has awarded more than $30,000 to students in grades 7 to 12 to attend workshops, classes, and programs throughout the region and beyond, and senior scholarships for students going to college with the ultimate goal of pursuing a career in the arts. Students from all twelve towns in the Lake Sunapee Region have benefited from these scholarships over the years.
