Concord Police have charged a man with stabbing someone in a fight that broke out at a homeless camp at Black Hill Road this week.
Curtis Ayer, 34, of Concord was arrested Thursday after police returned to the homeless camp off Black Hill Road for a report of another fight, the day after someone was stabbed at the camp. Police say Ayer, who was identified as a suspect in the stabbing, resisted arrest and attempted to assault an officer and was initially charged with resisting arrest and assault on a police officer, police said. As he was held in jail on those charges, Concord police charged him with second-degree assault, reckless conduct and criminal mischief in connection with the July 13 stabbing.
Police responded to reports of a fight Tuesday evening at an encampment at the old Concord Drive-In off Manchester Street, where one person suffered a stab wound and was taken to Concord Hospital. That individual was still in the hospital Tuesday afternoon but is expected to survive, police said.
Ayer was previously charged in January with felony assault with a deadly weapon and is awaiting trial for that case in Merrimack Superior Court. He was accused of attacking another man with a hatchet, according to court documents.
