■The Boscawen Public Library is pleased to have local children’s book author Mary Lyn Ray participate in the Preschool Storytime on Aug. 11 at 10:30 a.m. Weekly activities at the library include Bone Builders on Mondays and Fridays from 9-10 a.m., Craft Group on Mondays at 2 p.m., adult yoga classes on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. and Preschool Storytime on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Additionally, school-age children can read with the librarian on Thursdays from 2-3 p.m. Your prizes are waiting for those who are participating in the Summer Reading Program that ends on Saturday.
■Donations to the Backpack Program are being accepted Monday through Aug. 13. If you wish to make a monetary contribution, please make a check payable to the Town of Boscawen. The donated items can be dropped off at the town offices, police station, elementary school, Franklin Savings Bank and Elektrisola. Some food items needed are individual cereal boxes, oatmeal packets and grits packets, snacks, juice boxes, applesauce cups, fruit cups, boxes of mac and cheese, cans of soup, tuna, ravioli, Rice-A-Roni cups and tomato sauce. Any orders from Amazon can be sent directly to the Boscawen Town Offices.
■“Music in the Church Park” is back on Aug. 14 with local folk musician Cosy Sheridan performing, courtesy of the Boscawen Congregational Church. The music starts at 4 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. There will be open mic performers afterwards. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, an umbrella just in case and your appetite for grilled fixings. The church park is located at the junction of Route 3 and Route 4.

■The cemetery trustees have updated the by-laws for the town cemeteries. The trustees asked for community help and input when these by-laws were originally developed and are asking once again for your guidance. Join the trustees on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Meeting House for a review and discussion of the trustees’ suggested changes. ■Petals in the Pines’ Pick Your Own Flower Field is now open for the season! Come between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and get your bucket and scissors at the farm stand porch. Follow the signs to the field and choose from 100 varieties of annuals and perennials. There is also a collection of vases that you can choose from to arrange your flowers if you wish. Bouquets are offered on the farm stand porch shop Friday through Sunday. Bouquets and arrangements are available any other time by request. ■The town clerk is now open to the public for indoor in-person service. Masks are recommended for all those not fully vaccinated. Please continue to observe social distancing and wait until you are either called or the person in front of you leaves the office. Please be sure to bring your driver’s license. Vehicle and dog renewals may still be completed online. Vehicle renewal registration information was mailed to those who need to renew in July. Please follow the directions in the letter enclosed and the town clerk will mail your new stickers and registration to you. This only covers vehicles previously registered in Salisbury, not new vehicles or vehicles of new residents. Online vehicle registration for renewals and dog licensing is now live. ■Salisbury Old Home Days will take place on Friday, Saturday and Aug. 8. This year’s theme is “Salisbury Through the Decades.” The Classic Car Cruise Night opens the festivities on Friday from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Maplewood ballfield. Other activities this weekend include a Chicken Contest (entries due Tuesday), horseshoes tournament, corn hole tournament, Chili Cook Off (sign-up deadline is Sunday), Salisbury Congregational Church Chicken BBQ (Saturday), antique tractor show, Fire Department Muster (Aug. 8), crafts and games. ■The Salisbury Zoning Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. at Academy Hall to consider an application from Arxe Realty Trust, Leon & Tamara Lampes Trustees who have requested a variance from the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Salisbury, Article V, Section F in order to construct a shelter/hunting shack within the front yard located in the agricultural zone. ■Webster Old Home Day is Aug. 21. Parade registration is at 9:30 a.m. and the parade begins at 10 a.m. Games at the park follow the parade, and will have live music provided by Bow Junction. Bring your picnic lunch and spend the day with us!
■The Hopkinton Fair is on, and that means The First Congregational Church of Webster needs your help for the church fundraiser Sept. 2-6. This is the church’s largest fundraiser and needs volunteers to make it happen. Sign up to work at the church booth by calling Terry at (603) 648-2639.
■Concord Drive in the Pillsbury Lake District is still under construction. Drive slowly and carefully, there are often workers and equipment on the road.
