No arrests have been made in the death of a 31-year-old Concord man who was shot in the neck and chin in a city apartment Saturday.
The death of Cody Tewell in Concord Heights early Saturday morning was ruled a homicide, according to Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Mitchell Weinberg, who conducted the autopsy.
New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella and Concord Police Chief Brad Osgood released the name of the victim and the autopsy results on Sunday. In a statement, Formella said the investigation is ongoing.
Concord Police responded to a 911 call at 3:41 a.m on Saturday from a resident at 306 Alton Woods Drive in Concord. When they arrived, police found Tewell’s body in the bedroom with gunshot wounds, officials said.
Alton Woods is an apartment complex located off of Loudon Road in Concord Heights, not far from the Steeplegate Mall. Rents at the complex range between $1,300 and $1,440 a month.
Surrounded by picturesque green lawns sprinkled with pine trees and picnic tables, the buildings are painted white with a brick section and stand three stories high. Tewell was shot in a second-floor apartment.
Neighbors said they didn’t hear gunshots early Saturday morning, and were saddened when they learn about the shooting. Tewell is a father of young children, they said.
By Monday afternoon, the complex was quiet with no police presence.
Tewell had no criminal record in New Hampshire, a search of court records shows.
Concord Police are asking anyone with any information related to Saturday’s shooting to call 603-225-8600.
