Fraud prevention webinar

Meredith Village Savings Bank and NHTrust will be hosting a free webinar on “Outsmarting the Scammers” at noon Oct. 27. Attendees will learn about top fraud trends from resident experts, to help avoid being tricked by the most current schemes. Registration is open at mvsb.com/fraudclass. “Fraud cases are on the rise, and scammers are getting more sophisticated,” said Cody Gibbs, Fraud Analyst. “This webinar allows us to present useful information to our community members about how to protect account information and keep an eye out for common fraud tactics. We hope to give participants valuable tools and peace of mind.” The webinar will be presented by Gibbs and William Roberts, Fraud Operations Officer. For those unable to attend at noon, there will be a second presentation of the webinar the same day at 6 p.m. presented by Merrimack County Savings Bank, MVSB’s sister bank. New LondonHoliday auction opens online

The Center for the Arts announces their online Annual Holiday Auction from Nov. 1 through Nov. 15.   Folks can bid through the Nov. 15 with the final bidding on remaining items at the Holiday Dinner on Nov. 16 all to raise money for the CFA Arts Education Fund. The Center for the Arts, Arts Education Fund provides grants to local teachers and schools to facilitate active participation in the arts.  The fund was established to encourage teachers and administrators to create projects that will not only expose students to the arts but also inspire students to think creatively.  The CFA Arts Education Fund has helped to support numerous visual art, performing, and literary projects including the KRES Shakespeare Project, the Portsmouth Brass Quintet, the East Bay Jazz Ensemble, Woodwind Music of the King’s Court, the Ox-Cart Kids Poetry Club, Native American programs, and the KRHS Labyrinth Project, as well as many Online and Teacher-led Community Projects. Thanks to generous donors, this year’s auction includes great gifts including Tubbs Snowshoes, Fraser Home Fragrances, Gift Certificates, Wine, Winter, Yoga, and Holiday Baskets galore, as well as beautiful 10×10 works of art by the following artists: Valentina Barrett, Marc Beerman, Eileen Belanger, Sue Anne Bottomley, Jean Cronin-Connolly, Elizabeth D’Amico, Don Elliott, Iris Fischer-McMorrow, Jay Fitzpatrick, Lindsay Freese, Ludmilla Gayvoronsky, Great Island Photography, Jack Harkins, Barbara Hunting, Penny Koburger, Lucy Mueller, Bruce Parsons, Yvonne Shukovsky, Charlotte Thibault, Kristin Watts, Mary Watts, and Roger Wells , offered for $100 each!
