The Capital Region Food Program distributed over two tons of nonperishable food items to 14 area social service agencies, food pantries and churches as part of the program’s Year-Round Distribution Project on Oct.12. CRFP partner agencies receiving food as part of the distribution included: Boscawen Congregational Food Pantry, CenterPoint Church Food Pantry, Christ the King Food Pantry, Concord Housing Authority, Epsom Food Pantry, Friends of Forgotten Children, Gospel Light Food Pantry, Merrimack Valley Day Care, Open Door Community Church, Salvation Army, St. Paul’s Church Food Pantry, Suncook CAP, Town of Boscawen Human Services and West Congregational Church Food Pantry. As part of the Year-Round Distribution Project, non-perishable items such as canned fruit and vegetables, peanut butter, breakfast cereal, pasta, and soups are distributed at no cost to participating partner agencies. NH Audubon’s McLane Center on Silk Farm Road in Concord will host the annual Enchanted Forest on Oct. 22 and Oct. 23, from 5 to 9 p.m. This family-friendly event brings groups into the woods along a jack-o-lantern lit trail. In the forest, participants will encounter larger-than-life characters sharing facts about nature through engaging skits and stories. Find out why the mushroom laughs at the slug, the awesome truth about snakes, and how the crow turned black. There will also be a campfire to gather around. Everyone will get a craft goodie bag to take home. The event will occur rain or shine, skit sites are undercover. Registration for a specific tour time is required.
