The centerpiece of the New Hampshire Master Chorale concerts on Nov. 20 and 21 is “The Sacred Veil,” a new piece by the celebrated composer Eric Whitacre with lyrics by Charles Anthony Silvestri.

The concert-length work, published in 2019, deals with the most basic human questions: Where do we come from, and what happens to us when we depart this life?

Performances will be on Nov. 20 at South Church, 27 Pleasant St., Concord, at 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 21, at the Congregational Church in downtown Plymouth at 5:30 p.m. Attendance will be limited to allow for distancing, and audiences are required to wear masks. All singers are fully vaccinated.

The concert features the acclaimed 30-voice Master Chorale conducted by its founding director, Dan Perkins. Cello soloist Harel Gietheim will collaborate in The Sacred Veil.

The concerts will also include a piece written in the early days of the pandemic called “Light Beyond Shadow,” by Dan Forrest with lyrics by Paul Wigmore. Perkins says the piece “is meant to be a warm, comforting, accessible response to ‘The Sacred Veil.’ ”
