Outing club seeks volunteers

■Robotics Family Information Night is on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Franklin Middle School cafeteria. Light refreshments will be served. Call 934-5828 or email kdarsney@gm.sau18.org for information.

■Choose Franklin, in lieu of in-person meetings, present information and creative videos to introduce us to the many non-profit organizations in our city. Visit their Facebook page and browse for a few minutes to be reminded of the wealth of activities offered by volunteers in our community.

■The Thrift Clothes Closet has a sale on all coats, scarves, sweaters, and hats: buy one and get a second one free. All profits are distributed to local non-profit community organizations and are totally run by volunteers.

■Twin Rivers Interfaith Food Pantry is again in need of plastic, paper and reusable grocery bags. Drop off during our service hours or call 934-2662 to arrange a time.

■Mark your calendar ahead for change in the School Board meeting date. Due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, the meeting will take place on Jan. 18 at 6 p.m., at Franklin High School.

■Laurie McDuffee Cass has been appointed to the Franklin School Board to begin immediately, representing Ward 2. She will begin her term on Jan. 18.

■The Franklin Outing Club is looking for volunteers to sit in huts and monitor lift lines or help at ticket and grill areas. You can work just a few hours to help and ski or board the rest of the day. If you are 18 or older, you can be trained to run the lifts. Many youths started here and made careers in the ski industry. Fill out a volunteer application online at franklinoutingclub.org.

■“Fair Funding for Our Schools” at the Franklin High School, Tues. Jan. 25, 6 p.m. Purpose: To educate Granite Staters on inequities in the state’s school funding system. ■Free Tax Preparation can be arranged by calling 2-1-1 for an appointment. The VITA tax group will be at the TRIP center every Thursday from Jan. 13 through April 14th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

■New year, a new beginning for your youngsters. Register now at Parks & Recreation for the Before and After School Program, the Kindness Club for ages 7 to 10 and much more. ■Start the New Year with a much-needed blood donation. The RedCross is experiencing the worst blood shortage in a decade. Visit redcrossblood.org to find a site near you and give the gift of life.

■The deadline for signing up for the Affordable Care Act is Jan. 15. Visit healthcare.gov as soon as possible.

■Start the New Year with line dancing, offered at the TRIP Center every Friday from 10 to 11 a.m., and Keep Movin’, an exercise program for adults is every Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. This is a fun, free way to ring in the new year. Call 934-4151 for details.

■CAP Weatherization Program offers a scientific audit of your home to see if you qualify for fuel assistance and meet income guidelines for weatherization. Call 225-3295 for more information.
