I am writing to endorse Norm Goupil for reelection to the Hopkinton School Board. I served on the board with Norm during the 2020-2021 school year. My year of service on the board was certainly a challenging one. It took three tries to pass a budget; COVID was at its peak in causing disruption; and we hired a new superintendent. Norm was an asset to the board in dealing with these difficult issues. He brings to his school board work an enormous heart and a deep love for our schools.
The issues the board faces do not have easy answers, and I did not always agree with Norm’s view. But I knew that every time Norm spoke, he did so with a one-hundred percent sincerity for what he believed was best for the district. Norm was also the first to raise is hand for every additional assignment that arose. He represented the board on the budget committee, which is by no means an easy task. And we all owe him a debt of gratitude for the time and energy that he put into our recent school renovation projects. In short, we need school board members with enthusiasm, energy, and a passion for making our schools the best that they can be. Norm is that guy. For that reason, I plan to vote for his reelection.
