It is not a coincidence that a record 14.5 million people, including 52,497 in New Hampshire, signed up for health coverage during the 2022 open enrollment period. President Biden made lowering costs and expanding access to care a priority, and by passing the American Rescue Plan, our delegation offered critical subsidies that allowed four out of five enrollees to purchase health insurance for $10 or less per month. Unfortunately, those subsidies are set to expire at the end of this year, and without new action, millions of Americans, and families across NH, will lose access to health care.

The good news is that there is a path forward. Congress can make these lower premiums permanent, and lower costs and expand access to quality health care in New Hampshire and across the country. As a Granite Stater enrolled in health coverage through the ACA marketplaces, I am thankful for the help when so many other costs are rising. The Build Back Better health care provisions will lower costs and expand access to coverage for millions of people across the country. Folks like me are counting on Congress to do the right thing. It’s time to get these health care provisions passed and signed into law, and deliver some much needed relief to families who struggle to afford health care and their prescription drugs.
