BOSCAWEN Crafts at the library

■If you are looking for free fun activities for kids during their school vacation, the Boscawen Public Library is offering a crafts workshop on March 3. It will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Stop in and pick up a craft kit to complete at home or complete at the library.

■Town Elections will be held on March 8 at the Boscawen Elementary School. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Town Meeting starts immediately following ballot tabulation. Absentee voting is available for anyone concerned about COVID-19. Absentee ballot applications can be obtained at www.townofboscawen.org or in the lobby of the Town Office Building. Applications must be received by the town office by 5 p.m. on Election Day.

■Dog owners will be able to register their pets on Town Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Be sure to bring the most up-to-date rabies vaccination records. Payments can be made in cash, check or credit card.

■Town Offices and the Boscawen Public Library will be closed tomorrow, in celebration of Presidents’ Day.

CANTERBURY Book discussion

■Sample ballots, full text for 2022 zoning amendments, and the application for absentee ballots for the March 8 town election have been posted on the town’s website under the Town Clerk-Tax Collector, canterbury-nh.org/town-clerktax-collector. The sample ballots have also been posted at the Town Office and the Canterbury Country Store. Absentee applications can be obtained in-person during the Clerk’s hours, Monday and Wednesday (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.), and Tuesday and Thursday (noon to 7 p.m.). ■Elkins Library is closed for Presidents Day on Feb. 21.

■Evening Book Group: Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. We’ll be reading “The Book of Lost Friends” by Lisa Wingate. Copies are available at the library and can be downloaded on Hoopla and NH Downloadable Books. This is a dramatic story of three young women searching for family amid the destruction of the post-Civil War south. Come get your copy today. Rosie leads a wonderful discussion back at the fireplace. Note – going forward, this book group is changing to the third Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. to better meet the needs of the group.

SALISBURY Citizen of the year

■The Town Clerk’s Office will be closed on Feb. 21

■The Salisbury Old Home Day Committee will be accepting nominations for the Citizen of The Year Award at the Annual Town meeting voting day in March 2022. The committee decided on Jan. 11 that it would hold the ballot voting for Citizen of the Year on the same day as the Annual Town Meeting. We ask that you please be sure to cast your vote for the Citizen of the Year nomination on your way out of the meeting, there will be a separate voting box and signage for this purpose. The winner will be honored at Salisbury’s Old Home Day and ride in the parade on Aug. 13.

■The Conservation Commission will meet at Academy Hall on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.

■The Board of Selectmen will meet on Wednesday on March 2 at 7 p.m. at Academy Hall. All are welcome to attend. Please see the town’s webpage for the alternative Zoom link if you cannot make it in person.

■The Planning Board will meet on Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Academy Hall.

■The Annual School Board Meeting on March 4 voting is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m ( polls are open) and the business meeting to vote on the budget starts at 7 p.m. at Merrimack Valley High School. ■The Friends of Forgotten Children food pantry has opened the building to its clients. The pantry is open on Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m. (last client to check in is at 11 a.m.), closed for lunch 11:30 a.m. to noon, and reopens from noon to 7 p.m. First time clients should bring proof of residency for each member of the household. This can be your lease, a utility bill, food stamp or other agency approvals, doctor bills. We also have a clothing pantry. ■The Town Clerk is now open to the public for indoor in-person service. Masks are recommended for all those not fully vaccinated. Please continue to observe social distancing and wait until you are either called or the person in front of you leaves the office. Please be sure to bring your driver’s license as the clerk is required to see it for all motor vehicle transactions. Vehicle and Dog Renewals may still be completed online. Vehicle Renewal Registration information was mailed to those who need to renew in February, please follow the directions in the letter enclosed and the town clerk will mail your new stickers and registration to you. This only covers vehicles previously registered in Salisbury, not new vehicles or vehicles of new residents. The 2022 Dog Tags are in so please feel free to license your pooch a few months early. It is $6.50 for a spayed/neutered pooch, $9 for intact pooches. Seniors (those 65 years and older) get one discounted pooch for $2.

■The Webster Historical Society’s Virtual Silent Auction will take place from Feb. 25 through March 12. ■On March 5 (rain/snow date on March 6) Webster’s Bob Quinn will lead town residents on a Wetlands Walk and Talk. The purpose of this event is to explore a couple of wetlands you may not know about and to increase our understanding of their importance. The Webster Conservation Commission and the Webster Planning Board have been working on a Wetlands and Water Quality Protection Ordinance (Article 2 on the Ballot) on which we will vote March 8 at Town Elections. Please go to the Town of Webster website a few days before the event for the precise time and location of our walk. Bob is a world-class field guide and ecologist and we thank him in advance for offering this event.

■Do you like to garden? Would you like to learn more about best practices in gardening? Do you know what jumping worms are? If you are interested in any of those topics, plan to attend the first meeting of the Webster Garden Group on March 9 at 2 p.m. in the meeting hall next to the library. At the meeting, we will discuss ideas for the group. Do you want it to be informal or formal? Are you interested in bringing in presenters? What about plant swaps? Are there gardening books you would like the library to purchase? Everyone is welcome. Since this is sponsored by the library, masks are required, and there will be lots of room to sit socially distanced.
