An unusual hybrid concert – 300 people in person and who knows how many more watching online – will happen soon at Bank of NH Stage.
The concert by country star April Cushman, bumped by a COVID-19 surge from its original January date, will take place Sunday, Feb. 27. It will use a hybrid system known as Live On from Nashua-based TS Event productions, who will show high-quality live streaming to people who paid $17.99 per ticket as the live performance goes on for people who paid $34.99 to be in the theater.
The idea is to take the energy of a live show, important to artists unenthusiastic about the pandemic habit of performing for a streaming camera in an empty room, and combine it with the internet’s ability to reach a wider paying audience.
Tyler Soucy, president of TS Event Productions, told the Monitor in January that the company hoped to do “a bunch” of these hybrid shows in Concord this year. Soucy said the company is developing a system for putting video displays on stage during the performance that can show people who are watching at-home, allowing the remote audience to interact with the artist.
Cushman is a New Hampshire native who describes herself as a “mom, wife, farmer and a hillbilly songwriter.” The Concord show with her band is part of a tour supporting her debut album, The Long Haul.
