Karen Pinkos, a former star player at Pembroke Academy and current SNHU coach, was announced as the NE-10 conference women’s basketball coach of the year Tuesday afternoon.
Pinkos has been at the helm of the SNHU program since 2005 and this is her first such award. Under her guidance the Penmen posted a 21-5 regular season record and she collected her program-leading 200th along the way.
She holds a career record of 216-232.
The Penmen’s season is in the balance due to an early exit the NE-10 conference tournament after their 71-64 loss to Southern Connecticut State in quarterfinals. SNHU is hoping that despite its loss in the conference tournament, it can still earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II tournament.
Should the Penmen make the dance, this would be their first appearance since the 1989-90 season.
