Concord Christian Academy girls basketball coach Rebecca Carlile and the rest of the athletic staff just wanted to do something special after the Lady Kingsmen won the Division IV state basketball championship this past week.
“Well, we’re just so proud of the girls. We wanted to just make a big deal of what they’ve done; it’s such a big accomplishment. So we decided to rent them a limo, pull them from school and just take them downtown and feed them lunch for a surprise, “Carlile said.
“And they’re so young. We have actually four eighth graders, two freshmen, two sophomores and one senior. So we’re gonna be doing this for a while. I’ll do it for a while, hopefully. Honestly, when you have talent, that’s wonderful. But I think beyond talent, you have to have work ethic. And I think these girls are a perfect example of just an incredible work ethic they have.”
The Lady Kingsmen claimed the first state girls basketball title in school history on Sunday with a 46-28 win over Derryfield to complete a perfect 20-0 season.
