■Congratulations to Brian Searles who recently retired from Lake Region Mutual Fire Aid. Brian served many years in the Chichester Fire Department.
■The Chichester Fire/Rescue Department had a busy February with three building fires, 19 EMS Calls, six motor vehicle accidents and four other calls. Many other hours of work with meetings and training.
■The Chichester Central School second trimester ends on March 16. Report cards will be issued on March 25.
■Thank you to Chichester residents who came across an injured owl in the middle of the road. The residents brought the owl to a rescue farm and from there it went to a bird rehabilitation facility.
■Spring is coming to Chichester. Robins are being seen. Clocks are turned ahead on March 13. A lot of green is coming on March 17 to remind us of green grass, and full moon on March 18. Spring is March 20 and are you ready?
■Seasonal maximum weight limits upon town highways shall be restricted to six tons for a period occurring annually, starting on March 15 and ending April 30. This was adopted in 2011 by the BOS.
■The school will be having its annual book fair from March 15 to 17. The fair has always been successful with books for all age groups available.

■The Chichester Historical Society has acquired donations of antique toys from patrons of the society. Curator Ruth Hammen and other members have worked on a display of these toys in a fun way to remember the enjoyment these toys brought to our ancestors. ■The Chichester Central School Drama Club, under the direction of Kate Mara, is working on a spring production with all grades participating. Contact Kate at the school for your child to participate. It’s time to take the stage again!
■The School Board will be meeting on March 16 at 6 p.m. at the school. Newly elected school board member Brenna Preve will be present. Ben Brown retired after serving the school board for 21 years.
■Supervisor of the Checklist, Gail Laker Phelps, retired this month as a supervisor after serving for eight years. Newly elected supervisor Lori Jewett was elected for a six year term.
■Child screening for Chichester children ages six years and younger will have testing of speech, vision, hearing, motor, and learning skills at the Allentown Elementary school on March 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Deerfield School will be testing on March 21 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.. ■March is National Read Across America Month. Chichester students celebrated with several incentives. Students posted their favorite book on the bulletins boards, they had read aloud events, bookmarks were made and decorated as well as daily book trivia.

■The Pittsfield Players’ Kids’ Theater Workshop will present “Godspell, Jr.” at the Scenic Theatre on March 17, 18 and 19, at 7 p.m. each evening. Each family receives one set of diapers/product per child in need, and one package of wipes per family. We generally have newborn through size six diapers, along with pull-ups and overnights.
