The New Hampshire Educational Theatre Guild will hold its statewide festivals on April 1 and 2 in two locations.

Pinkerton

The Stockbridge Theatre on the Pinkerton campus, 44 N. Main St., Derry, will host eight schools for its festival, with rehearsals and performances split between Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, Bedford High School and Windham High School open the first block of performances with shows. Bedford will present โ€œ4 a.m.โ€ at 3 p.m. and Windham has โ€œManiac Manorโ€ at 4 p.m.

Later that evening, โ€œEurydiceโ€ will be staged by Exeter at 7 p.m. and โ€œA Midsummer Nightโ€™s Dream … In Space!โ€ by Salem at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, the day begins with Coe-Brownโ€™s โ€œThe Yellow Wallpaperโ€ at 10 a.m. with followed by Concord with โ€œWhen She Had Wingsโ€ at 11 a.m.

Concordโ€™s selection is a play told in sound, movement and words by Suzan Zeder, with original music by Concord senior Christopher Renaud. It focuses on a young girl named B, just B, who is 9 and not excited about turning 10. She believes she used to be able to fly and wants to remember how. When her treehouse is hit by lightning, sheโ€™s visited by a stranger. She speaks in squawks and occasionally the call letters of Amelia Earhartโ€™s missing plane.

The afternoon block of Saturday shows will be John Stark at 2 p.m. presenting โ€œI Donโ€™t Want to Talk About It.โ€ Lastly, Pinkerton Academy will present โ€œMen on Boatsโ€ at 3 p.m.

Kingswood

At the Kingswood Festival, held at the Kingswood Arts Center, McManus Road, Wolfeboro, six schools will showcase their work.

After having time to hold technical rehearsal on Friday, schools will perform for their peers (and the public) on Saturday.

Pittsfield Middle High School will kick off the day at 9 a.m. with โ€œAnonymous,โ€ followed by Plymouth Regional at 10 a.m. with โ€œThree Tables.โ€

The next block of shows are Kingswood Regional with โ€œThe Yee-Ha!Ha! Revueโ€ and Portsmouth Christian with โ€œArlecchinoโ€™s Big Mistakeโ€ at 1 and 2 p.m., respectively.

The final pair of shows begins at 3:30 p.m. with Franklin High Schoolโ€™s โ€œThe Chili Haunts Me Stillโ€ and at 4:30 p.m. Gilford High Schoolโ€™s โ€œAlmost, Maine.โ€

Tickets are $7 for a two-show block or $15 for the full day of performances.

Judges will review the shows at the end of the festival and offer comments and accolades to the student performances.
