New Hampshire’s election system has worked fairly and effectively for decades. As a former election official I can attest that we have a force of dedicated citizens who are well trained by the secretary of state’s office, who are diligent in registering voters according to NH Laws, and who put aside partisanship to serve their communities. SB 418 would create difficulty for voters to register, complicate the process, discourage new voters from taking part in our election process, invade the constitutional right of a voter to a private ballot, and interfere with the tried and true legal process for our residents who serve in our armed services overseas.

That is no way to treat the very people who are dedicated to protecting the rights of all citizens. To New Hampshire state senators: do not follow the legislative playbook of voter suppression states. We want to live in the New Hampshire we love and respect with its history of fairness. We don’t want to live in a Texas, Florida, Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin facsimile. To Gov. Sununu: should our state senators fail to protect our voting rights, it will be up to you to do so by using your veto on SB 418. Protect our New Hampshire legacy and reject SB 418.
