A man was killed when his car crashed into a parked truck in Epsom early Friday morning, and police say speed was likely a factor.
The accident occurred on Suncook Valley Highway, near Route 103, at 1:55 a.m., Epsom Police Chief Wayne Preve said. He declined to name the victim, pending notification of family, but said the man was in his 40s and was driving a 2013 Nissan Rogue.
“He hit a parked pickup and dump trailer,” Preve said. “Speed was definitely a factor.”
Preve said a toxicology report would not be available for the foreseeable future, a problem made worse because “The lab is tied up,” he said.
According to Preve, the Nissan Rogue was traveling southbound on Suncook Valley Highway, also known as Route 28, when it smashed into the truck from behind. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preve said more information would be available once the family is notified and the police investigation moves forward.
