Strafford’s Nick Grimbilas, a Bishop Brady graduate, was one of 15 players named to NCAA Division III PING All-Region Team. Grimbilas, a junior, helped lead the Endicott golf team to the Commonwealth Coast Conference title this past season. He is the third golfer in Endicott history to receive PING All-Region honors. He was also named to the CCC First Team for the second straight year. Grimbilas was the NHIAA Division III individual champion in 2018.
The Concord JV softball team picked up a 9-1 win against Spaulding. Savanna Andersen (two runs, hit, RBI) got the win from the circle, striking out 12. Lily Hackett (run, two hits, RBI), Tess Bolduc (run, two hits, RBI) and Lily Kazanowski (two hits, two RBI) provided the offense. Andersen and Hackett also played well on defense, combining for 7 putouts.
■The John Stark JV baseball team lost to Hanover, 7-6. Seth Marquardt and Aidan Johnson each had two hits in the game with an RBI. Jayden Bishop, Drew Tower and Mason Fedette pitched well for the Generals with a combined seven strikeouts in the game, while only allowing four hits. John Stark had the tying run on third with nobody out, but couldn’t push that run across in the last inning.
Skylar Clay drove in three runs and pitched three strong innings as Hopkinton closed its softball season with a 14-1 win over Pelham. Marcella Guadagno, Aurelia Salce and Annie Morrall reached base three times each. Avery Loew (two innings pitched, two RBI), Bella Correa (two RBI, defense) and Paige Boudette (sacrifice fly, defense) also played well for the Hawks.
Banks defeated Concord Police Patrolmen’s Association, 16-8, in Concord Babe Ruth action. Tommy Weaver and Ryan Stephenson pitched well for Banks. Cole Czarnecki and Jacques McCrillis had hits. Cody Haskell had a double and Kyle Buelte had a hit and a sacrifice bunt for CPPA.
■Rowley Agency defeated Kiwanis in a Concord Northeast Babe Ruth game. Rowley was led by Connor McGahan, who pitched five strong innings and belted three hits, including a home run. Colby Nyhan collected four hits, while Henry Elliott, Logan Hayes and Quinn Sullivan each contributed two. For Kiwanis, Dawson Hayes pitched two innings and reached base twice, and Noah Chrabolowski had three hits.
■Concord Little League’s S&W Sports won a pair of games, defeating Family Vision, 8-5, and Bedford, 9-7. Against Family Vision, Tyler Mayo had two hits, including a home run. Brody Rossetti had an RBI single to tie the game, followed by Wyatt Rockwell’s towering two-run homer. Lucas Golden pitched well for Family Vision. Mayo had a walk-off home run in the seventh inning to lift S&W over Bedford. Rossetti had two hits and Kolton Gaudreault also had a couple of hits and played well defensively.
The Concord Crush 14U girls beat Bedford in overtime, 9-8. Parker Baker, Emilia Raimo, Madison Beauregard and Lexi Magee anchored the defense. Abby Poole played great in goal. The offense was sparked by Sydney Brown, Emma Pelletier and Delaney Summers. Concord improved to 5-2 on the season.
American Legion Concord Post 21 senior baseball team registration is open for players ages 16-19. Tryouts will be June 4 at 9 a.m. at Rollins Park. Players from Concord, Bow, Pembroke Academy, Merrimack Valley, Hopkinton and St.Paul’s high schools between the ages of 16-19 are encourage to tryout.
