Similar to the girls’ lacrosse field, the capital area is lightly represented numbers-wise in the NHIAA boys’ lax tournament field.
But the four teams boast talent up and down the roster with some close calls throughout the season that, had they gone differently, might have netted a different seed.
A brief look at the four teams in the tournament:
The Crimson Tide essentially are in a play-game since their contest against No. 9 Souhegan is the only first-rounder in Division I.
Concord’s prize should it win against the Sabers? Another few days together as a team and a road trip to No. 1 Exeter.
The Bears’ 4-3 mark in the closing moments of the season helped them secure one of the final playoff spots in the Division II bracket. They’ll travel to No. 7 ConVal, whom they beat, 7-6, on April 29 on the road.
If Coe-Brown wins Thursday, it’ll travel to No. 2 Derryfield on Saturday.
Hopkinton’s two losses came against undefeated Campbell and then-No. 5 Lebanon, but one of its closest games of the season came against its first-round opponent in No. 7 Trinity.
The Hawks escaped with a 3-2 road victory to start a seven-game win streak. Much like in the regular season, all they have to do is win by one.
In a similar situation to Concord, the Cougars are in a play-in game and are the only preliminary round contest in Division III.
Kearsarge will host No. 9 Gilford, which it beat twice in the regular season. The first came at home, 12-8, on April 14 before an 8-7 road win on May 27.
If it prevails for the third consecutive time, Kearsarge will travel to No. 1 Campbell on Saturday.
