While I appreciate Ned Helms’ concern over the price of health insurance premiums, there needs to be more to the conversation.

Helms’ “permanent health care subsidies” need to be temporary. Temporary because 1.) health insurance is not health care, and 2.) what ought to be permanent is Expanded and Improved Medicare for All.

Just as we need, as a nation, to have the guts to finally confront the gun industry, so too do we need to confront the private for-profit insurance industry.

Let us step beyond permanent temporary subsidies, and see to it that every person has access to health care. Period.
