Many political and celebrity figures who condemn private citizens for possessing firearms expose themselves as hypocrites by being protected by bodyguards with firearms. As further insult and hypocrisy, many political figures benefit from such protection through taxes levied upon the citizens they seek to disarm. Since it is apparent that there is a benefit from such protection, it is false for them to continually state that firearms serve no protective function?
If they really acted based upon their own words, logic would compel them to not use armed bodyguards. Law-abiding armed citizens are routinely vilified by these hypocritical individuals. Armed citizens are sometimes called cowardly for being armed, but again, this is the exact opposite of reality. When an armed citizen engages an active shooter, he or she draws fire, becoming the focus of the shooter’s attention, drawing fire away from other potential victims. Drawing the fire of a criminal shooter is an act of courage. Recent FBI data show that armed citizens have stopped active shooters. Having conscientious armed citizens is without a doubt a positive, and a benefit to us all.
